How much water do you drink during/after running? I know everybody is different, just curious to know....
How much water?: How much water do you drink... - Couch to 5K
How much water?
None during. 1 cup/mug after.
Depends during generally none, if I've gone mad and trying afternoon runs in the heat then I can get through a 600ml bottle (that does include chucking some over myself - though lemon water no so great for that Ooops) when I get back maybe 1 or glasses and a mug of earl grey tea
None during the run, but I do chew a piece of gum while running. Afterwards, I drink an energy drink, and I also drink water throughout the day. I drink more water now than I did befor I began running.
Again, normally none during, for anything under 8k although I have taken a very small bottle this last week just because of the heat, knowing that I don't drink the recommended amount at the best of times! I do have cereal with milk and a glass of OJ for breakfast and always run about an hour after that. Try to remember to have a glass of water when I get back.
Nothing during anything up to 10k (although I've not gone further than that). I try to get 500-600ml of water down slowly after the run along with about half a litre of a banana milkshake for recovery. I think the important bit is to ensure you're well hydrated before the runs... this means that I'm now regularly getting through 4-6 litres a day of water...
When running first thing in the morning, which for me is not particularly early ( 8-9am), then I drink two 250ml glasses of water, or one of water and one of smoothie before I go out. I run for up to 10K without taking any water with me. I try to drink about 500ml on my return, plus one wee carton of soya choc or strawberry-flavoured milk. Then a cup of tea and onto my usual several cups of tea and glasses of water a day.
I take water in my Camelbak for my long slow run, which are now to up 3.30 hrs/30km. These past few weeks I've drunk all 2 litres in this, but that is running in the heat of the mid-morning sun.
None during (as I'm running for less than an hour) and about 500ml water/recovery drink straight after.
Drink around 300ml half hour or so before a run. None during and as much as is needed afterwards
I don't drink during, I just don't run long enough to need it. I always drink 500ml afterwards which seems the right amount for me. I usually have a nice cup of tea about half an hour before.
Thanks all, that's about what I'm doing too. I drink a lot of tea and water, always have, but lately I've been feeling a bit headachey, probably due to the heat.
Ginbin, please be careful with that chewing gum, if you're panting anywhere near as much as I do, you might inhale it....
I drink my fill 3 hours before I run. I usually drink nothing after that until the run is over. Last week I did 15 klms - and for that run I took a very small 250 ml bottle with me and took about 2 mouthfuls of it at two different times.
About a 100ml during, the remainder 400ml immediately after.
Assuming I've been drinking normally before, I sometimes take a sip before I start (to wet my mouth) and probably around 250ml after. If I drank during, I'd either choke or need to pay a visit so to speak! When I first started I think I was drinking about 1.5 litres after - just don't seem to need it the same now (week 9).
