This Sunday I have a place in the Anniversary Run 5 miler at the Olympic Park in Stratford. Is anyone else is going? It might be difficult to meet up, I think there are over 10,000 entrants. Anyhow when I signed up I told them I thought I'd do it in 53 minutes which puts me in the 'green' starting wave, which means I'm not quite at the back.
I went out this morning for a prep run and did 5 miles in 53.30 on local roads with hills so I'm looking to beat that on the flat surface at the park.
Wish me luck and I'll report back after the race!

All the best Rob! I'm certain you'll have an amazing time and beat your estimated time.
I did it last year, my first ever race, and had a wonderful time even though I'd hardly run in the three weeks before because of injury. The Park was still a building site *but* we finished inside the Stadium which was an absolute dream. I'd been lucky enough to snatch an Olympics athletics ticket through the re-sale and to actually run into the Stadium that I'd been sitting in and watching 'The Olympics', something I'd always dreamed of doing but never believed I would, was beyond words and very emotional!
