(Friday) ... Still more people are joining the The Dozz-ville Challenge Award For The Discombulated. I'm not entirely sure they know what they're signing up for so today's missive is a re-run of the rules.
We swim, we ride and we run. All comers welcome. Ability not important. If you can't swim - wade/splosh in the shallow end. If you haven't got a cossie or Speedos I believe Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div) is crocheting some. If you haven't got a bike, borrow one, if you can't borrow one go down to the gym and say you'd like a free trial day. You can already run or you wouldn't have found The Discombobulated.
Just 30 mins of each that's all that's necessary. Just 30 mins, And not even in a row if you can't fit it in. MY middle name is not Brownlee. If yours is I expect double.
The event will take place over the last two weeks of July. I trust you to fit it in when you can and not fib about completion.
There is a small entry fee - £1 into the collection box of your favourite charity. Pops, Toblerones for the Needy is not a charity! Let us know who you supported and why if you wish.
The last, and MOST IMPORTANT RULE is no-one tells the distances they covered. It is a PERSONAL CHALLENGE. I will not allow it to sink into a competition. It is not to see if you do more than others or leave you feeling dispirited if you are at the other end of the scale. NO personal results are to be posted, just the proud announcement of having finished. Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div) will send Corporal Dennis (tank div) round if this rule is broken. Once you have this year's results you have your personal targets for next year.
(Corporal scruttons phys ed div) is giving swimming lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, alternatively Ferd the battle dog does aqua aerobics and synchro if that's what you fancy.)

Good idea about the gym free pass. I think my old man has some of those knocking about. I don't have a bike so that's a dead good plan Doz. I was going to forego this challenge being as I don't have a gym or a bike. Never had a go on a gym bike. If it's anything like a real bike I would deffo fall off!
I've been looking for a cheap bike on eBay or a free one on freecycle (ha ha) with no luck. It'll have to be the one of local gyms. I'm off for my first swimming training today so I'll recce the local council one first, then try a DW, then the local private one.
If anyone can't get hold of a bike or belong to gym - a lot of parks have gym equipment which often include a bike type thing good luck and enjoy everyone!
Havent got one of those. There is the river though, and there mist be a safe spot for wading. Never fear, i shall find something wet and immersive. Besides the bath.
I know we are not allowed to boast about distances (great idea). But can I boast that yesterday I went to get my bike out and it had a flat tyre and thanks to university of You Tube I changed the back wheel and inner tube all by myself. As a new cyclist I am quite pleased with myself. I would like to put myself forward for trainee engineers position in light of this.
You can learn how to do anything on Youtube. I found out how to fix my motor mower , and yesterday I cooked a Crispy Skin duck from Youtube instructions-- I'm now considering becoming a brain surgeon.
Challenge accepted... the 30 minute run was completed today. The swimming shall require some negotiation with the local swimming pool to convince them I'm actually my wife (who is a regular swimmer) and let me in on her pass...
I shall tackle the postman for his bike next week...
Bear in mind you are going to have to do the run again in the second half of the month. The challenge runs from the 14th to the 31st July. Don't peak too soon!
Ta for making me laugh you lot! Baz you are a nut! I impersonated a brain surgeon recently when we went to Oxford and stayed in the student hostel. It was the department for the brain apparently So, at breakfast me and my old man pretended to be eggheads. I, a brain surgeon, and he was a professor of some branch of the natural sciences don't yer know. Fortunately we were not pressed too closely or we might have been rumbled
