Oh grumble!!!
Sorry.
So I felt like the beginnings of a cold yesterday, or maybe hayfever, but it was a 'rest' day so I'd planned on swimming before going to the dentist so that wasn't too bad.
This morning's exercise was planned for a 'long' run, how long? No idea, but over 10k please. Woke up not feeling too bad until I swallowed, ouch! Painful sore throat. And when hubby said 'bye' before heading out for a day communing with a stick and bit of string by some open water (he's gone fishing) all I could manage was a raspy mumble. But long run day it was so off I set. Not too far, not with a cold, so no need to take water or food with me, not going far......
5k in I needed a wee but other than that I was doing OK. So turn left (home and about 10k all told) or right, loos in the park but 12k home. Turned right.
Availed myself of the loos (sorry if TMI), now which way home, left for the 12k or right, along the high street for about a 13k but stop at the shop for an ice lolly. 'Right' it was!
One chocolate mini milk later (I ran past a bin as I needed to deposit the wrapper and then found another bin just as I finished the lolly, serendipity!!!) and I was feeling good, back along the road and onto the track to take me home. At the end still feeling good, do I go straight home (right) or carry on (left) so I don't end up on 13 point something k (13 being unlucky)?
Yep, I went left, over the downs to add another couple of k on. So I got to the point where I know it is definitely 1.6k to home, I was on 14k at this point, carrying on home, but in the next 600m I thought why finish on 15.6k when for another 400m I can do a nice, round 10 miles? Cue a right turn along the shops, just to add a little more on, swing back round and home for 16.1k, a smidge over 10 miles!
'Celebrated' with toast and marmite and by turning my (maxwell house instant sachet) cappuccino into a moccaccino with the addition of some chocolate protein powder in milk!
Why the grumble? Because I've just uploaded my run, I apparently burned 970 calories (hmmm, what can I 'spend' those on??? ). If I'd carried on for another 5 minutes I'd have topped 1000 calories, which would have been an even better number. But hey ho, there's always next week.......
