Worried about wk2

Hi all

My daughter and I have just finished week 1 day 3 :) we decided to do it together to keep each encouraged - she's 16 I'm 52. I'm a bit worried about week 2 and having to run for longer, what if it's too much ? What if I get too breathless ?

The key is to take it really steady its not about speed, if you feel yourself getting breathless slow down more and if you feel you need to stop then do that. Repeat week 1 if you think that would help but dont worry about it. Let us know how you get on and good luck with all future training sessions. Trust me, if you take it steady and don't push yourself to hard it should be fine :)

Hi Floss, well done on getting your daughter out there with you! Mine is the same age, & I'm 53. She came with me a couple of times but complained her way through it so in the end I've done it by myself ;-) Youll be fine, just slow down as much as possible to get through the longer runs. I never thought I could do it, but by moving at a snail's pace, I successfully completed the programme in the 9 weeks. It's just about stamina, not speed at this stage. Your stamina will increase without you realising if you just follow Laura and don't rush things. Good luck to you both!

I agree with the above, I thought there was no way I was going to manage more after that first week, but here I am graduated. I am still slow but I am having such a great time and you will find so many benefits if you stick with it. Just take it as slow as you need to. I'm 53, age is no problem, go for it and enjoy! x

You're actually going to be run the same amount of time, just in different amounts, so you know you can do it! Just believe in yourself and the programme. We have all been there, but the doubts are worse than the run.

Take it slow and steady and you will be fine. You can always repeat runs/weeks if you feel more comfortable with that but give week 2 a try - you will probably surprise yourself. Good luck and best wishes.

What if you go breathless? then you huff and puff and struggle, but you manage to scrape through the 90 seconds. You've already taken the biggest step in starting the programme, so you CAN do it. You can. Seriously.

Even if they drop out now, you guys completing it sends a powerful message about womens, moms, fitness, self-care, etc. maybe they will at least learn not to wait until they are in their 50s!
