R2w2 and really sore insides of knees!

OK so not having run for decades and carrying at least a couple of stone too many isn't helping but could it be my shoes? Anyone else suffering?

Hi, have you had a gait analysis for shoes? I'm over 4 stone heavier than I should be, and started the program 5s 11lb over and didn't get knee pain. I'd look at the shoes if you haven't already - good shoes are priceless :) good luck and well done on reaching w2! :)

Wow, well done and thanks for the advice. Looks as though I'll be shoe shopping next weekend. Did the moonwalk a few years ago and I'm using the same shoes. Should have known better I suppose. Good luck on reaching your targets.

I got this half way into c25k. I found massaging the area and doing lots of stretches afterwards really helped. It disappeared after a couple of weeks.

Sounds like you're doing really well :)

I finished w7 last week but I have a sore knee which has scuppered my plans for week 8. I went for a gait analysis & got myself some proper running shoes (been wearing a knackered, old pair of trainers up to now). Not had chance to try them out yet as been giving my knee lots of rest. Might venture out tonight though.

Let me know if you find a miracle cure for knees & on how you get on - good luck!!

looks as though it's new shoes for me. Did my run yesterday even though my knees were sore and i'm walking like my 83 year old mother today! Not good. Tomorrow's run may be postponed:-(. Thanks for the good wishes and hope you get on ok tonight

I know it's super frustrating but getting a few extra rest days now, could save you having to take a longer time out later. Can't recommend new running shoes highly enough - just trying mine on now before my run! Take care :)

I'm now on my third week of cycling whilst my knee recovers from W7R2. I did get upset about not sticking to the plan but then realised that it is a journey not a race. Cycling doesn't hurt and I'm hopefully keeping some of the fitness. I know I'm going to have to backtrack a bit but this is a big change for me.

Rest those knees, chat to people here and you will get back to the Programme.
