Started run 1 of week 9 and had to stop due to a tight calf muscle. I've had some massage/torture on it. Got the ok to keep running but for much shorter distances. Tried run 2 of week 6 and had to stop again :-(. 2 more sessions of 'torture' to go. Any advice on this, I had hoped to be doing my graduation run today ?

I don't know if this is helpful or not but I get really tight calves when I run longer distances. I mentioned it to someone at the running club and was told it can be from not lifting feet up enough. They suggested running trying to kick your bum or lifting your knees as high as you can - not all the time just a little bit, eg for 30 seconds each occasionally and it will persuade your body to lift your feet more.
That may not be why your calves are sore but it might help....
Good luck!

Thank you ! I will definitely give that a try. I have 2 more sports massage sessions, so hopefully I will be ok.
