Starting at 7.00pm this evening they'll be in the Amazon Black Friday deal thingy. Only the gent's black/silver one though.

Just for info, in case you're looking for one.

Did you get one?

No, I already have one (got it with Tesco clubcard boost tokens towards the beginning of the year), but last year when the black Friday Amazon thingy was on there was a kerfuffle on here, I had one in my basket but decided not to in the end. We just happened to have a teacher in asking about getting gold sticky stars for the kids and we were looking up those on amazon, then my boss said about the black friday deals being on, I went and looked at those (looking for gold sticky stars obviously), saw the FR10 and had to tell you chaps!

Was it a good deal when it came up? Decent savings?

It was 59.99, I'd decided to get one if it went under £60 so I was happy. I think the purple is usually 78 and the black 82 so a reasonable saving. There is more Garmin stuff on today (I think it's a golf watch though) so it is probably worth people keeping an eye out over the week to see if any other models come on.

How do you feel about your forerunner now? My only worry is that I might decide I want more functionality later, though I really can't see me wanting a heart rate monitor compatible one - might be too scary ;-)

Occasionally I do think that maybe I'd like a cadence or HR monitor, just for the extra data it can generate (and it would be more accurate with the calorie burn (I eat back all my running calories, the more I run the more I can eat :) )), but then I just slap myself and tell myself I enjoy the running, I don't actually need it, be sensible etc.

Though yesterday the Garmin Edge 800 was on a black friday deal as well and that was very tempting, I bought the Edge 500 for bike riding back in the summer (it's probably the equivalent of the FR110, not the basic model, but no-where near the top of the range one either). The difference between the 500 and 800 is pretty drastic, I would get in-built maps and a colour touch screen and be able to see where I'm going rather than where I've been, but no, I was sensible, I don't NEED it, but am allowed to lust after it!

I got a violet one, when the deal became active you could choose either black/red or violet so it's worth keeping an eye on the deals even if you're not keen on the colour shown as additional options are often included unless the description specifically states a colour. For example the fitbit flex was available in slate blue as well as the black pictured.
