Wow! I would love to do that time. I know what you mean about clothes. I find jumping around before I go out is helpful, getting me a bit warmed up. I wear a long sleeve top and running tights, cold when you first set out, but warm up pretty quickly!

Long running tights, a long sleeve top and a very light weight running jacket. The jacket seems to be a garment of magical powers when I wear it when I run in the dark, always keeping me at just the right temperature. If I run in day light, I forego the jacket and possibly replace it with a short sleeve t-shirt over my long sleeve top. Good luck x

I bought an Aldi cycling jacket recently (their running ones didn't go up to a 14/16 annoyingly) and it's great. Has a breast pocket for your phone/mp3 and zipped sides which you can open as vents! Genius! It does get a tad warm in it but I'm thinking it will be a bonus as the weather gets colder. It has some serious reflective strip too! I'm still in a t- shirt underneath and running tights.

I bought a nice bright Karrimor 'Run' Jacket and long-sleeved top (both mens) last week from Sports Direct. The ladies top and jacket were too short! The men's jacket covers my backside giving just a little extra protection from the cold. Although both are pretty thin I find that together they offer just the right compromise between being warm enough at the start and not getting too hot during my run. They also both have zips I can undo to let a little air in around my neck if I need to cool off. I do feel like I may need an extra vest underneath soon though if the temp continues to drop.

I can't seem to get it right. I have various tops I can layer plus a couple of varying thickness jackets. I also have a cap, a buff and gloves. But no matter what I wear, I'm too cold on the warm up/cool down walks and too hot when running. Maybe its just the way I'm built. I can tolerate heat more than cold. I really hate being cold. And with being sweaty, I cool down quick when I stop running.

I find the hardest part of my run is leaving a warm house for the cold and dark to begin my run.

I guess it's just down to trial and error really. But I'm still a newb to running so never knew how it was going to be.

Must admit I am dreading the freezing winter temperatures and snow and rain that will come. Any tips from seasoned runners?

If you don't want to get chilled on the cool down walk home then why not skip it. You can run all the way home and do loads of stretches inside. I joined a beginners running club recently and it's the way we do it & no ill effects

If you're cold on the warm up and just right when you run, try hanging your running clothes over the radiator overnight so you're warm when you go out?

I bought the aldi cycling jacket too and really like being able to take the arms off. I got it in the sale too, bargain!
