Why after 8 days do I still feel stiff and sore from my race? I dread going back on the treadmill. But I also want to be "a runner"...

I'm new here. 8 days ago I was to do a 5K with my friend. I started the C25K at the 30 sec jog and was suffering so you can get an idea how much of a beginner I am. The most I could run was 3 min but figured I could still do a 5K. What's 45 min of my life, right? I bounded enthusiastically ahead of my friend, ended up following the crowd and wondered where the heck was the finish line at the 6K mark!!! So I finished the 10K painfully with a 5 step jog and walk, soaked and feeling like an idiot/Rockstar.

I think you overdid it slightly :D Well done on your enthusiasm - but I feel your pain. A gentle workout on the treadmill will ease your aches. Try and do some stretches afterwards. Info here -

You should be able to get back on the treadmill and work up your distances gradually.
