A banana before my run, water and stretches after and a healthy balanced diet which is low in fat. I've been static BMI 22.5 for about a year now and weight is good for my age, gender etc. I just need to watch the wine when I'm on holiday, I do like a glass or 3, . . . . . . . .

My boyfriend is doing a paleo diet at the moment, and although he doesn't run he does work out. I dont think he specifically eats anything before/after a gym session, but I know there are quite a lot of free recipes online which he uses for inspiration. These are a couple of websites I found when I was looking into it - it looks good, but not sure I'd have the willpower to stick to it! Hope it helps!

Just looked up the diet. Don't do it! Not only has the excellent recent BBC 2 "the men who make us thin" shown that no diet scheme works, but also this:

Scientists say, eat and live for health and happiness for life. Diets make people (well the majority) put on wieght long term.

I agree with oldgirl. I'm most energetic if I have a banana (with a spoon of peanut butter) before a run. It is always good to have some protein (greek yogurt or a protein smoothie) after your run to help repair muscles. Again I'm with ya on the wine oldgirl :)

I love peanuts, well nuts of any sort really but I don't like the texture of peanut butter, life's not fare sometimes, I've heard many times that its good for you too.
