I started C25K to get fit and lose weight. My stamina and fitness is definitely improving, i'm finding C25K tricky but not impossible. I have started trying to eat sensibly but don't seem to be losing any weight. Perhaps 6 weeks isn't a long enough time period? Any tips?
Week 6, run 3 tomorrow, feeling proud but don'... - Couch to 5K

my only tip is to try and change your thinking - try not to expect to loose that much weight during the first 9 weeks ..... the program is designed to get you from zero to 30 mins running 3x per week - once your there, keep on running - then you'll really be able to burn those calories and see the weight coming off.
this one is definitely a marathon not a sprint.
I started C25K just after joining Weight Watchers back in October; I have lost 2st 1lb, but I have slowed with my weight loss (almost to a standstill the last few weeks) even though I have been doing 5x50 as well, but as above, I am in it for the long haul and am so glad I am making positive steps to a healthier lifestyle.
However my fitness has really improved and I am definitely changing shape ( losing the fat around my ribs and back, and on my legs) I know I need to concentrate more on my diet now and keep up the exercise and the weight will continue to come off, even if it is slow!
Hi poppy, my weight loss stopped about 7lbs to go i had lost 2.5 stone, after trying many things i started doing some serious HIIT (high intensive interval training) using my running also swimming. I lost over 3 minutes off my 5k PB and 8lbs, reached my goal weight and it only took just over a month. Give it a try, it's hard work but short periods, it's fun and you get great satisfaction out of it.
Thanks, I will try that. I've still got 4 stones at least to lose, but not losing heart because I know I am so much fitter than 6 months ago!
Don't weigh yourself, measure yourself! I weigh exactly the same as I did when I started C25K but I'm a dress size smaller. Muscle is denser than fat so you'll probably notice a difference in your size/shape before you lose much weight.
I've heard that weight loss comes when you start doing longer distances but I don't know how far 'longer' is.
I started to lose weight when I was approaching week 9 of C25k but it was by this time that i decided to eat clean so... This can't just be a coincidence.
I wouldn't expect to lose much weight just by running though, but you'll probably get thinner anyway- muscle is heavier than fat so you'll find that you definitely dropped a few cm around all the problematic areas! The sad truth my doctor in nutrition told me (I'm being followed to lose weight slowly but safely) is that Ibs (or kg) won't fade away if you don't pay attention on what you eat... Losing weight is about 70% eating clean and 30% cardio + strength workout. Yeah, I was very disappointed when he told me that. lol! But from what I'm experiencing, it happens to be correct.
Good luck!
Hi I'm weightwatchers too and it's really helping me loose 1lb week especially when I've had lots of social (drinking!) too. But I agree my measurements say more especially where I want to loose around my bottom half!
