My attempt at the Manchester 10k run last Sunday did not go quite to plan.
To begin with I was panicky about making sure I had packed everything I needed for the race. (We were going over to Manchester the night before) .
I had checked my bag at least three times, including unpacking and repacking, so when I stopped the car and said I needed to check everything was in my bag, his lordship gently reminded me how many times I'd checked and reassured me that everything would still be there.
So off we went.
One hour and fifteen min drive later at son number two's house in ManchesterI discovered that I had left THE WHOLE BAG back in Leeds!
I dropped his lordship off with s#2 and went straight home where I checkied my bag again before putting it in the car.
Race day was beautiful. I was very excited. I couldn't here Laura but I put that down to the music and the man on the megaphone.
When I set off I still couldn't here her so I had to go it alone.
It was so hot! By the 4k mark I was really flagging.
Consequently I did not manage to incorporate my W8R1 but I did finish the race coming in at an amazing 26667th. Which means I was not last. There were 30 000 runners so 3333 people behind me.
After a couple of days rest I did W8R1 today and it feels great
