As planned, I have, for now, said goodbye to Laura's encouraging tones and said hello to my own music, accompanied by the From Couch to 5K app.
This might not help much but thought I'd spell out my playlists each week - as already, it's given me thought about the best way to shape them to get the most out of the 20 minute run and the 5 minutes walk before and after.
broadly what works best for me is:
- walk to upbeat, positive but not too relentless track. Songs about setting out on a journey work well.
- faster tracks to run to, the more driving the rhythm, the better - ending on one that really suggests ending, coming home, victory etc without being cheesy
- walk back home in similar fashion to start.
I wasn't sure if instrumentals or songs would help - i oddly found myself going faster when I had something to sing along to but it might vary.
