Hi Pam,

Hope you don't mind if I throw my two cents in here- I don't think it would be 'unsafe' but you're probably increasing your risk of injury. As we all know, if you're tired, your technique suffers, your concentration slips and that's when injuries happen. I'd say see how you feel? Don't force it- if you're in pain then respect it!

Oh, and if you manage it, you're my new idol!

Good luck.

Very many training plans have 5 or 6 days running a week, so obviously many people do. But every body is different and will respond differently to 3 consecutive days of running, so no one can say just how your body will cope.

Have you run two consecutive days before? Was that ok? If you were going to run 3 x easy 5 km runs, (or the first two as easy runs) then you're not putting stress on your muscles, therefore with no stress, the muscles shouldn't need much recovery time.

I sometimes do a 5 km easy run the day following a 40-50 mins tempo run, but wouldn't do it after a hard 5 km run, eg an intervals or hills training session.

Thanks for the replies. However, the decision has been made for me this afternoon following my tumble (see separate blog).

I've done two consecutive days before and I was going to be doing 3 gentle 5ks, 2 of them on the flat and one in the middle with a gentle incline.

Ah well, maybe another week!
