Week7 Run2 and a new recruit just joined us.

First of all do we get any reward for recruiting people on to C25K? How about a gold star beside our name?? My daughter-in-law has just started and says that it was because of my encouragement. Sorry, but I am feeling quite proud that at my stage in life (62 soon) I have influenced a younger person to get on to the programme.

Right enough of that. Today was 2nd run of week 7. Set out just before tea. Fortunately it had stopped raining before I went out. I thought the weather conditions were great. Slightly overcast and a nice fresh breeze. Ran in the little bit of sunshine we had the other day and felt I got a bit overheated.

All through the programme up until today R2 has always been the hardest of the three runs so was expecting much of the same today. However I felt as if I was just on the edge of comfortable. I even managed to up the pace a teeny weeny bit for the last 60 seconds.

I did a 7 min cool down walk and decided to run the last bit to home. It was 0.265 miles.

I had hoped to do a sub 40 mins at the finish but didn't quite make it. Time was 40mins 11 seconds. But still 57 seconds better than yesterday.

But, why is my personal best for this route W5R1 at 39mins 51 seconds? I hope that I can manage a personal best on Saturday for R3.

Hope all goes well for the rest who are due to do W7R3 soon.

Have fun and enjoy the running.

Yep , I'll second a gold star scheme! I started because a friend of mine entered a 3k and in her words is "over 40, 2 stone overweight and asthmatic" I'm 31, relatively slim and have no breathing problems, so I figured that if she could do it, so can I. I'm so pleased you inspired someone to start running. Lead by example!

Thanks for the support. Even if we all only managed to get 1 more person going wouldn't that be fantastic

Me too. My inspiration is a friend who signed up to a 10k run in aid of the hospital that were treating her for cancer. She's done the whole lot while going through chemo. I have NO excuse to quit!

I love this idea!

You sound like you're dong brilliantly - I really struggled with W7. Don't worry about your time / distance, that will happen in due course! Think how far you've come in 7 weeks. Good luck for R3 (and onwards, of course).

Hoping to do R3 tomorrow if it stops chucking it down. Looks like I might have a "dry window" about 5pm. But can you trust the weather people?

Hope you do well on your run.
