I now have a running partner!

After months of thinking about it and asking me questions (I completed the program in October-ish last year), my wife wanted to start. We put the week 3 podcast on her ipod (figuring that she could manage it). I got our ipods to the start of the track, we got ready (slowly... "if I stubbed my toe I wouldn't have to go running, right?") and with some trepidation went out (right before leaving "it's too late now isn't it?)... PROUD HUSBAND!

We got through the warm-up walk and to halfway through the second 90 second run when I realised our ipods were about 20 seconds out of sync. We mutually agreed that it would be better to avoid further ipod-syncing-hassles and I would do my own thing. We stayed in the park within sight of each other (well, I made sure I could still see her while I did some intervals on the Couch to 5k+ program). Even still, it was fun to run with her at points. Watching her run somehow spurred me on more than just my own effort. She definitely exceeded her expectations, and I'm one very very proud husband!

Today's rest day. All four legs feeling a bit tired...

Good on you for keeping up with running after graduation & good on her for being inspired by you so much that she wants to take part too.

instead of trying to sync both of your MP3s how about just using a headphone splitter like this one

cables2u.co.uk/headphone-sp...

that way you both listen to the same MP3 player on your separate headphones..

Good to see you back HH!! :)

How fantastic that your wife has signed up to this too; what an ambassador you are! I personally think it is best to do your own thing but still be out together encouraging each other, especially to get out the front door in the first place!

Its great to have a running buddy - you will soon be sharing all the talk on aches, pains, clothes, shoes, distance, speed, races....! This is me and my hubby now too and its lovely to have a common interest.

I hope we get to "meet" her on here real soon ;)

How lovely for you that you have a running partner now. Just think, she'll soon graduate and then you can go running 'properly' together. What fun.
