Achy legs?

I'm not sure I can describe it terribly well but my knees and hips are not aching all the time but every now and then. And I feel the urge to massage them. I can't really describe it any more than that except to say that I feel the need to move them. Is this the effect of lactic acid, of "restless leg" syndrome or something else?

Thanks

I'm struggling with the same problem. My entire leg area feels restless and achy. I have tried the usual remedies of increasing water for hydration, eating a banana a day and taking an iron supplement a few times a week. Anxious to see the responses! I was blaming part of mine being 30+ days in the 5x50 challenge. ;-) Gayle

Pleased to see the rubbish post removed :D

My right leg (specifically knee area and hip) were so bad last night I had to take a couple of painkillers. It's eased off this morning but I'm worried it's going to come back again. I'll try to drink more water today in case of dehydration.

Well done on doing the challenge, Gayle. Maybe next year for me!

I ran my longest distance yesterday and had trouble sleeping last night because of achey joints and restless legs. at about 3.5 miles my friend said that I was heavy on my feet so I'm wondering if just a little adjustment in my posture and trying to be light footed might reduce the impact on my joints. I'm planning a shorter run on saturday and will be interested to see if that makes a difference. The one thing I do now which I didn't when I started was have a small glass of milk after my run. Milk apparently helps to repair the muscles much quicker than any other drink :D and I must say I can feel a difference.

Sorry they are not wonderful words of wisdom but it's interesting to read what others do to combat the same symptoms

hope that helps xxx

The other thing apart from milk recommended to me for mineral loss during a run, is diorolyte or equivalent shop's own.

Oh, is that what it is? Mineral loss? I've noticed this afternoon that my knee has started clicking. It's never done that before. Assume it's related?
