My COPD brought me to the hospital on Easter Day and got out 53 days later.
I had a severe exacerbation of my pulmonary emphesyma.
On prednisone 50mg, Antibiotic and Bricanyl 4 puffs QID.
Ex-smoker since 15 years but smoked 50 years.

Wow that was a long stay in the hospital, hope you are much better now with the help of your meds. I had stopped smoking for 20 years when COPD reared it's ugly head had smoked for about 26 years. I'm lucky that mine is well under control. Take care, best wishes, Lesley

You were a respiratory tech? Do you have any suggestions for us in dealing with COPD and slowing progression?

Thanks for the reply. I had switched to Bricanyl quite some time ago as Ventolin didn’t agree with me.
Another way to slow the progress is to do the exercises made for copd patients. In the states we can go to pulmonary rehab which teaches these or you can find them online. We usually go twice a week for about an hour or more - up to you. There is a little workout on a treadmill (very slow) some light weight lifting an arm workout and leg one .
