Hi friends, I was admitted into hospital of Jan 2021, I was put into ICU, told my family I wasn't going to survive.

I have been diagnosed with COPD, I ha e to use a machine every night, I'm ashamed as I'm only 50, I stopped smoking 12 weeks ago by using an e cigarette but now I've been told it's just as bad as smoking. If I can't use it I know I'll start smoking again, I did quit for 4 months in Feb last year then started smoking again. Please help.

Hi Donna and welcome to the site, please don't start smoking again it's the worse thing you can do. I know how hard it can be I have been there myself. Get into doing regular exy, eat healthy and please don't smoke. If you feel like you need a cigarette then pick up a book and read , or get an adult coloring book Do a jigsaw anything to take youromd off it. I really hope this helps you can always messagee for a chat, hope this helps you . Have a good night and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxxx

Thank you, I don't feel like smoking, I have family who smoke and I haven't been tempted to smoke again, I've taken up jogging, I play games on my phone and I also crochet, so I have lots of things to take my mind off cigarettes, I am very content using an ecigarette but I've read it can be just as harmful as actual cigarettes.

It certainly is just as bad for you as smoking is, so please try not to use them, that way you will help slow down the progression of the disease . Take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Please don't start smoking again, and do try to give up the e-cigs, not enough is known about the effects of using them yet, and some say they are as bad for you as cigarettes. I know it's hard, I gave up nearly 30 years ago, and still managed to be diagnosed with COPD in 2015. So as Bernadette said try and do things to keep your mind off them, eventually you will find that you are not craving them anymore. Good luck.

Good on you for giving up smoking Donna. I know what a struggle it can be. I used to smoke 60 a day and up to 100 at the weekend. After being diagnosed with COPD (Emphysema) I asked my Doctor to prescribe Champix tablets. After 3 weeks I completely stopped and haven't had any lapses for 18 years. Don't give up giving up.

Hello,I gave up smoking on champix for a year.I started again because my mum was dieing of blood cancer..She died in November and I went online to buy them again and they are out of stock everywhere!!

Absolutely gutted as I have emphysema and have to stop.

I started today on a patch gum and emergency vape ,I haven't used the vape today and if I do are just hold the vape in my mouth and not take to the lungs.

Hi Madonna1 I hasn't realised that Champix was no longer available. This is the reason why: ema.europa.eu/en/documents/.... I've found out that you can get Zyban on prescription and it is meant to be as good.
