There's a new breathing device being advertised on American TV. I didn't catch the name so I'll describe it. It is worn off a shoulder strap like a woman's shoulder bag. The device itself is about the size of a modest woman's handbag.
WHAT IT DOES: It contains NO OXYGEN! What it does is extract oxygen from the air itself. It can't run out of Oxygen because it is not a storage device. It is a processing device.
That's all I remember.
Sounds like a light weight portable oxygen concentrator. Maybe try putting that into your search engine and see what comes up.

It sounds like you are describing the inogen oxygen concentrator. It does run on battery. Very light weight. The battery can last 2 to 4 hours I believe.
Sounds like this to me also.
2 to 4 hours? I'm not making light of it but if you needed this and had to go somewhere alone for the day, you'd have to carry a good supply of batteries.
Most (if not all) portable oxygen concentrators can be plugged into your cars "auxiliary power source" aka cigarette lighter, so you can charge the battery.
If anyone has ever bothered to weigh them the little over the shoulder E tanks are 3.4 pounds filled as is the older Inogens. Sometimes if your putting the longer lasting battery in the Inogen it can weigh much much more. They are expensive to repair. I have both and never use my Inogen - I always use the etanks. Inogen is great if you fly but other than that its just another rip off. There are some really small brands advertising now but I will stick with my tanks - they are light and easy to fix (just call the supplier!)
