Ask your consultant when you see him to refer you to pulmonary rehab, it will help with your breathing such a lot.😊 Bernadette xx

Welcome to the forum. I thought I would mention there is another forum here for lung disease and has quite a few more members so you may get more replies posting there.

Cold scared me I don't like it I'm in my bed most the time ,nothing seems to help. I do have a dream that the coils will be past soon, it's been long enough.

I was officially diagnosed with COPD in 2016. I know that I had it way before the official diagnosis. For two years before I ended up in the hospital for 12 days, I could not walk on a flat surface more than 100 feet without becoming breathless. I learned very quickly to stop walking, to quiet my breathing until it returned to normal. My diagnosis at the time was asthma. I argued for years about that diagnosis, as I never ever had an asthma attack. But still - you know - doctors are always right - correct? We do know that is not true. I am glad I learned to stop and breathe. I am glad I learned to slow my pace in order to not become out of breath or I could very well have suffered cellular damage throughout my body (probably did some!) At any rate, with the correct diagnosis (Stage 3 COPD), I was put on oxygen. I use it whenever I am up and moving. I can sit and work on my computer or watch TV without it, but if I am moving - I am on my oxygen. I live a normal life. I do everything I ever did. I did pulmonary rehab and am going again as I have been on a diet and have lost quite a bit of weight and felt a bit of rehab would get me started on a better exercise routine. I pay very close attention to my diet - eating healthy foods - staying away from too many carbs. Grains are all whole grain only. Lots of veggies and protein. I stay away from sugar in all forms. I take a lot of supplements - more D3 and C than most people do. I managed to stay free of any colds for 2 1/2 years but then that nasty virus RSV got me. However, because my immune system is healthy - my hospital stay was only 3 days. Just know that having a diagnosis of COPD does not have to stop you from living your life fully! Paying attention to how you treat your body is critical - it will extend and improve the quality of your life!
