Hi I had spirometry April after bad chest infection jan which left me coughing my fev1 was 69% not diagnosed told to go back Oct but I don’t feel I can face another spirometry and diagnosis just now stressed with other issues not health related. My question is putting it off for a few months will this make things worse if I do have Copd like not taking any meds my only symptoms now are clearing my throat some mornings no mucus and coughing if I run for the bus which i do quite often run like 1/2 mile I am 71 and reasonably fit no other health problems only ever a light smoker but of course for many years stopped after bad chest infection. If I had an inhaler would I use it on a regular basis even if no sob Any opinions appreciated xxx

I would suspect that after you have recovered from the chest infection your FEV1 should have improved. If you are not short of breath after even running for the bus you likely do not need inhalers but always best to check with a pulmonary doctor who would have access to your medical records and can take all things into account and give you his diagnosis and recommended treatments.

Running a half mile at 71 is pretty good. A test and some number or diagnosis doesn't make you any better or any worse, it doesn't change anything except give you the proper information to make a change if YOU decide to.
Is sounds to me like you are doing okay, but maybe go get rechecked just so you know for sure that you are okay.
Best to get a spirometry reading to see if you need anything to keep your lung health good.let us know how you get on. Cx
