A bit worried.

Good evening everybody, patricia7 here, I just wanted to let you all know what has been going on. I filled out a form for ESA at the same time I had to fill in a new claim for PIP, sent that off on Monday; a bit worried about that, they say it can take 16 weeks to make a decision. I have had a bad cold, feeling better for a few days, now it is back again.I just think it is stress. Short of breath at rest on inhalers. What I dont understand is why do i/you get breathless, is it because of my cold or something else? I am an ex-smoker ,6 years now. I am 52 years old and on my own.I read what people have written, very interesting. For example, I have been worried myself if I swallowed those little blue capsules from my Tiotropium inhaler and then I saw it the posts. The doctor examined me and said my chest is clear saturations 95 at rest. i just wanted to talk. Thank you patricia7. Have a good evening all of you.

My saturation is at 95 at rest too, my normal. Yes stress can cause us/you to be shorter of breathe, it tightenseems up our muscles

Hi patricia,

No pint in worrying over your forms, the PIP can take a few months to complete, the have to collate information from other sources. They usually write to you to inform you that they have received all the relevant information & a decision will shortly be made.

There is an appeals process so it wouldn't be the end of the world & any payments not paid will be paid in retrospect if that is the case.

Worry when you have to, not before, & even then seek out assistance immediately for any queries.

Mr W.

Ive had some sickness with a cold first then a flue then a cold again. Just started feeling better and it was right after thanksgiving that it all started. And that sickness made it harder to breath. Never had that happen to me before. Good luck with what your going through.

To Pegstags, Patricia7 here. Merry Christmas. In answer to your question, what is saturation? You use a little monitor on your finger to measure the oxygen levels in your blood. I was told in hospital anything over 95 was fine but I am no expert.PIP is Personal Independence Payment which is a benefit replacing Disability Living Allowance, as far as I know. I have recently applied; it can take up to 16 weeks to her.It is scored on how your disability affects you i.e going out; looking after yourself, ie washing yourself.I hope this helps. Thank you Patricia7.

What is a Esa and Pip form for?

patricia7 profile image
patricia7 in reply toMspatriot57

To Mspatriot57 Good Afternoon, Patricia7 here. ESA stands for Employment and Support Allowance. It is a benefit for people who are unable to work, replacing Income Support/Incapacity benefit. As far as I know you are put into 2 groups, those who are unable to work and those who can, but I dont know what happens after you are found capable of working. I hope this helps. Merry xmas. Patricia7.
