Mucus as bad as Diarrhea.

I had surgery for permanent colostomy / stoma and I get lots of mucus from my butt. It comes as quickly and unannounced as diarrhea did before. I'm cancer free and because of this, I don't have the severe diarrhea of the past under radiation. Tracking it without sampling, I probably get nearly 4-6 fluid oz. every day. It leaks out without warning, usually every time I stand up. It's bad enough I have to deal with a leaking bag (rings and such do not work well), but dealing with wet pants is more than embarrassing. Is there a plug one can use safely during the day?

Hi I had exactly the same problem. In the end I had to have a colectomy and they took my colon and large bowel and part of my rectum out. I still get mucus but only every few months and it’s more controlled.

Hi ,

I have the same problem and the only way to cope with this is to spend more time awaiting discharge on the LOO which may take 10 minutes or so .Read a book .

Cheers
