hello I’m a 53 year old female, for, healthy and about to run my 11th marathon. But have been struggling with bowels more and more in recent months, needing to go more often, especially whilst running. A lot of blood dark and clot like appearance after running and for a day or so and more loose stools and skinny stools. I am going to put a photo on that happened after a 10 mile run on Saturday. I felt like I needed to open my bowels again after already doing so twice that morning? But only dark clotted blood came out. I have had a positive FITtest (169) a 2ww referral has been done by my GP. Im an optimistic person. Could there be another non sinister reason?

The raised qfit test result needs explaining, so it sounds like your doctor is being proactive. FIT is a marker and a raised marker may have a number of causes. Best wishes.

Thanks for posting with us. There could be many things happening here that are not sinister. You need answers so you don’t have to speculate. Blood in the stool and change in bowel habits need to have good answers. Sounds like you’re on the path to getting those answers. Finding answers is not a defensive thing as I see it as going on offense and facing it head on.

11 marathons is pretty impressive to me. I used to run a lot and have transitioned to cycling now💪🚴‍♂️. As an athlete you’re very aware of your body in training and recovery. You need to get answers and put this behind you and move on💪👍. I think you’re on the way to doing just that. Stay optimistic as you are doing what needs to be done👏❤️.
