Gall bladder smaller size

I had 3 polys in my gall bladder which 3mm n 4mm. But lately ultrasound showed my gall bladder very small (even I'm fasting) n thicken wall about 3mm.Still doctor said it's normal n nothing to worry, just monitor every year.I'm worried,is it normal for our gall bladder become smaller all of sudden even in fasting state? Doctor said looks small n slightly wall thicken but couldn't see any stone, so no worry.

After my last childbirth 30 years ago we went for a meal one day after which I had excruciating gallbladder pain shooting up my back, went into ER and was given morphine. After investigating with my GP, apparently my gallbladder had shrunk. I was offered key hole surgery to remove it. The first appointment on NHS came after 6 years! Unfortunately I had a cold so they cancelled it. There was some reason for not having the next one a few yrs later too. I learnt how to NOT have any pain. The trick was no fatty or fried foods, not eating too much, no biscuits etc. Was told if it bursts it could be dangerous but its now 30 years and had pain only a handful of times and not severe, it happens if I have junk food and so am careful. A couple of buscopan tablets help if I slip up. No idea why it happened. Crushed during pregnancy? Ate too much that one evening out? God Only Knows. Was never given the reason and now just don't even bother about it. Never had the surgery. They forgot about me I guess. LolMaybe I was lucky it did not "burst". It effects my digestion I guess, not enough bile but have not had it checked since then. Ideally I should have. Now 30 yrs on, other ailments have taken priority.

Good luck and remember no junk food :)

Do u have any gall bladder stone?the body secretes more bile after high fat meals, anything greasy, fried foods, pizza, will stimulate the gallbladder even harder and make it squeeze harder, and combined with blocked ducts, this pressure can cause pain.

No stones, just shrunk.

So did u remove gall bladder by the end?? Only pain killer n after that didn't proceed for removal surgery?

No, as I said in my first post. I had no surgery to remove it. I don't remember even when I had to have painkillers. Maybe once or twice in the last 15 years. All I do is be careful what I eat, which I have to do anyway for my HF and RA. I have lived with this 30 years without a problem

Thank you for sharing Rubina. I will monitor n schedule for ultrasound again end of Dec. Dr said it's rare for gall bladder to shrink without stone n inflammation.

Yes, my doc was surprised too. I recently had an MRI and nothing strange was picked up, as it does not cause any pain....I have just decided to ignore it. HF is a lot more worrying 😟

U went for MRI lately? Your gall bladder didn't show shrunk? And shape back to normal? For my case, because I didn't feel any pain, Dr only ask me come back for ultrasound 6mths or one year later to monitor.

Actually the MRI was for my heart. I also had an ECHO, they picked up a possible blockage in one of my kidney pipes. But to be honest as it was a cardiovascular check maybe they don't bother about looking at anything else. So can't be sure if its normal now or not. I also have Bowel Cancer and RA but they treat everything in isolation as though its not one system. No relationship related to meds even. My urine had blood, kidneys were failing but they were still only treating with heart medication.I found it very strange and got more ill and discharged myself in 7 days. Its a long convoluted story. They follow a set protocol of meds whether you are improving or deteriorating is not monitored by the cardiologists every day, so 5 days of a med that did not suit me made me very weak. Also caught infections as you do in hospitals and now on antibiotics a month after the discharge as it did not clear up and they thought it was not necessary at the time. My experience with doctors has not been ideal to say the least so I study, research and work out whats best for me myself. Not ideal but they cannot care for everyone as efficiently as before. Too many sick people now. :(
