i am a 40 yers old dad of 2. Its been 8 months since i have been having tummy aches in centre of tummy and around umbilical area. Pain is deep and is specially hurtful when touched/pressed. Recently I have been having narrow/ ribbon like stools. No blood is visible on BM. I have told doctors/ GP but they suggested that its constipation and gave laxatives which gave some relief but symptoms are still same. I am very scared. Doctor has now prescribed FIT test to check blood in stool (apparently its a pre requisite for a colonoscopy) i am very scared but hopeful as well that it might turn out something else. Just wanted to share and ask if anyone else has same issue maybe?
thanks

hi sorry about your pains for so long I have had them since last October but I did pass a lot of blood. Haemorrhage for 3 days and in so much pain but Now the criteria is you have to have a positive FIT Test before they will consider referring you for discussion regarding a colonoscopy. I had positive FIT Test then received a telephone assessment Call from the hospital who then referred me for the scope. My colonoscopy was normal and endoscopy (stomach scope) normal other than gastric polyps which they said did not need treatment. I’m awaiting a gynaecologist appointment since referral in Dec/Jan this year so may have something to do with that for me as I’m at a loss where all my blood from bowel was caused by and still having pains in my stomach & bloating. Hope you get send to quickly as worry is worse thing for stomach pain it makes it so much worse as I no myself with having ibs for so many years. Hope this helps good luck
