I am 16 years old. I have dealt with stomach issues throughout my entire life. about a year ago, I started noticing blood in my stool. it wasn’t much and it was just occasional and we didn’t think much of it. I had a colonoscopy done about 10 months ago and everything came back fine. Since then, I have had more blood and I have gotten sick a lot more often since then. I have constant stomach issues from vomiting to diarrhea. I miss school and work constantly because of these things. I have lost about 45 pounds since the blood has started and I haven’t tried to lose any weight. I don’t have anal fissures and I don’t have a lot of pain when using the bathroom, just a lot of discomfort. I need help trying to figure out what’s wrong.

Hi gillysoose25,
Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. You are very young but I'm glad to see you've had a colonoscopy to try to figure out what's going on. It's only been ten months since your colonoscopy; so chances are your symptoms are not coming from what you were seeing with your colonoscopy. I would think you should talk to your GP about perhaps getting an endoscopy as that could look down into your stomach and see what's going on. You did point out that you're having stomach issues so the endoscopy may be the way to go. So definitely talk to your doctor about it.
Another thing to think about is if there is any family history of certain diseases. Are the symptoms you're experiencing happening to anybody else within your family. It may be a hereditary thing and possibly good information for your doctor to know.
I do wish you the best in finding out what's going on. I think the endoscopy is the way to go. Please double check that with your doctor.👍😁 Another thing I'd like you to know is that you are young. You should never take a diagnosis based on your age. Never let anybody tell you that this or that couldn't be happening because you're only 16. Let the diagnosis and the test results do the talking. And please let us know if you find out. Is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,
