After a Colonoscopy, I was told I had a Sessile Serrated Polyp in right colon. It was removed at the time. The consultant had said these things are hard to see and don’t always bleed, so aren’t always picked up on screenings. He said they are precancerous and an annual Colonoscopy is good to keep an eye on things.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these - I’m not sure if I should be worried or not.

It's good you had a colonoscopy, and they did find a polyp and you had it removed. That's exactly what's supposed to be done. Most colon polyps are non-cancerous. These need to be removed so they don't develop into cancer. A “sessile polyp” Is a polyp that grows in the wall of the colon and is very flat. Your doctor is correct in that they are hard to see. This is another reason why the colonoscopy is so beneficial. Other scans may not have caught this.
As a personal note about me, I get an annual colonoscopy as well. I have a hereditary form of cancer and things need to be caught early. As for you, I wouldn't be too concerned about having to get an annual colonoscopy. Considering you're a doctor found a hard to detect polyp, this is probably a good step to make sure more don't occur that might go undetected.
Another good piece of information to let your doctor know is if your family has a history of certain disease. There may be other people in your family that would benefit from this type of screening. That would be a good thing to cover with your doctor at your next appointment.
We do wish you the best in getting these screenings and staying in front of anything that may occur. I don't think it's something to be worried about because you are now getting an annual screening and the colonoscopy is definitely that means to discover new polyps, should they occur. 👍❤️👏
Much better to be monitored regularly and keep on top of any polyps so they can be dealt with early. That way you avoid them becoming cancerous and they can be dealt with quickly and easily. This should give you peace of mind, rather than worry you.

I had a Traditional Serrated adenomas polyp just removed on the 11th Oct, I was told it is precancerous so my next colonoscopy will be 1 year later and I am also worried as well and currently I still have some bleeding, worried/ puzzled as well. So eventually how have you been going on after that and do you have any knowledge on your polyp which u can share here with me as well

I hope you are well. I was told that, in the past, they would probably have left a sessile polyp alone but now they tend to remove anything as sometimes they can become nasty. I went privately for my Colonoscopy as my GP wasn’t overly concerned but I was very anxious - my symptoms were mostly intermittent left side pain and sometimes looser poo. I had changed to an almost totally vegetarian diet and my GP blamed that and menopausal time and that it would settle in time (which, to a greater degree it has, but it took quite a while) however I don’t know that I can do that again this year as my provider won’t cover it, or any ‘screening procedures’ unless I develop symptoms (bleeding/change in bowel/ etc) which, as yet, I haven’t and, understandably the NHS most definitely won’t. I am glad I did get Colonoscopy and polyp was removed though. I’m keeping a close eye on things and am very ‘bowel aware’ and will be taking part in the NHS bowel screening service when due. I also got the details of a medical company that do private qFIT testing (which is much more affordable as a 1st stage or screening tool), so I’m going to do that and, if it is ever positive, then I will approach my GP or insurance for referral.
Good luck with things - I have read that polyps are generally slow growing and, so if we keep alert to any changes in our ‘normal’ and act on them, alongside doing our bowel screening/qFIT I’m thinking we should catch anything untoward early on.
I’m worried on my TSA (Traditional Serrated Adenomas) as well. Everyday watching on my stools making me paranoid . I had bleeding in stool before I went for this colonoscopy, lucky as well, but good for you that you have no bleeding. The bleeding portion had really scare me, even now after removing polyp, I still have some bleeding, it scare me and I went back to my private Dr, he prescribed me tranexamic to stop my bleeding but I’m holding on to taking first . I hope my bleeding goes away itself. I had a calprotectin test/ FBOT / and a bacteria test after 1 month as I had mucus in my poop as well. I hope everything goes well
so your next colonoscopy will be 1 year later?

I’m so sorry you are having such a difficult time. On the positive, if there had been anything sinister the Colonoscopy would have found it, but the worry until you have a solid reason for it is draining.
The Doctor who did my Colonoscopy said a follow up in a year or so would be fine, however the NHS won’t do that without clear cause (ie symptoms or positive qFIT) I went privately for my initial Colonoscopy as NHS GP said it wasn’t justified at that stage, but I was so anxious that I went private route. My insurance won’t do screening/reassurance colonoscopy, so I’ll need to save for self pay one - I could get one if I got symptoms, but I would never lie as I don’t want to tempt fate. So I’m going to do private qFIT meantimes.
If you’re having symptoms though, the. I’d certainly ask your GP about further tests - maybe even a CT. I believe things like diverticulitis and crohns, or even internal piles can cause some bleeding.
