For the last few months I've been having constipation problems (pebble poo) I am doing the Cambridge diet which is 2 products a day (generally a milkshake made with water) which is 200 Calories. Then I have a 600 calorie normal food meal. I always have salad or vegetables with my meal with chicken, turkey, salmon, tuna etc. I feel I shouldn't really have constipation?I noticed a couple of times blood on the toilet paper after wiping but put it down to being constipated. Now,a few months down the line,I'm still having what I call "pebble poo" and the odd large small poo where I have felt my anus open wide up. I check the paper each time but NOT everytime is there is blood but sometimes there is.

A few days ago I wiped and there was blood so I look into the toilet bowl and saw blood too. It is ALWAYS bright red blood.

The past 3 weeks I am getting an ache in my punlbic hair area.

I don't recall ever seeing blood in my poo.

Has anyone had similar symptoms please?

Hi Dimpsy82,

Thank you for posting on colon cancer connected. I hate to hear you're having these symptoms occur. Blood in the stool is a sign that something is going on and you obviously know that or you wouldn't be here on this site. It is always something that needs to be checked out to find out the reasons why. It could be caused by a wide range of many different things and you need to narrow down so you can focus on what you need to do to get better.

This is something you should definitely get checked out by your doctor. Especially when you have pain in the lower abdominal area. I've heard about others that have issues with the “pebble poo” as you describe it. That could be a dietary thing or something else. I see a lot of people needing to get checked out for blood in the stool symptoms. So please do get this checked out by your doctor. And another thing to think about is if there's some kind of hereditary component going on here. Also you may want to ask others that are on the Cambridge diet if they are having any of these issues as well. That would be interesting to know for a lot of people.

I would anticipate others on this site to jump in and share their stories of similar symptoms that they've had. And the commonality with it is that these symptoms need to be checked out.

We do wish you all the best in finding answers. Please keep us up to speed when you find out what's causing this. It's this type of information that can be very beneficial for others on this site as well.

Thank You,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
