I’ve been having bleeding every time I have a bowel movement for the past 3 months. I gave birth naturally 5 months ago. I have been to my doctor a who did an exam (finger inserted) and said there was a skin tag and likely internal hemmroids. I described the bleeding as bright red and coating stool as opposed to in it. Was prescribed ointment but hasn’t helped, also tried anusol suppositories but also has not stopped the bleeding and now bleeding is sometimes also mucusy as well. I’m starting to get concerned it is not hemmroids or can they last for this long?
Will make another appt with my doctor, just wondered if anyone has had similar situation?
Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. Congratulations on the new baby 🧡. I hope the little one is doing well.
I hate to hear you are having to deal with these symptoms. Blood in the stool is a symptom that needs to be checked out and I see you are doing just that. The situation for you is adding mucus as well. You were diagnosed with "likely internal hemorrhoids" which can be a cause, but you want to be sure there is nothing else going on. I am glad to see you are going back to the doctor to get some more definitive answers.
There can be all kinds of reasons for what you are experiencing. I would think a colonoscopy would go a long way in getting to those answers just to be sure and put your mind at ease. Another thing to think about is your family history.
There are lots of people on this site that have similar experiences and share the common need to get answers. We need for you to get those answers and not have to be concerned about this. We need you well to take care of the baby.
I do wish you all the best. Please let us know what you find out and what path you need to take to remedy this. Information like that can be very helpful to others on this site.
Thank You,
