Lowing my mind

My symptoms started about 3 months ago, with a change in bowel habits....looser and more frequent 2/3 time a day and heartburn which I'd never suffered with before. That's not changed but other things have happened in the last couple of weeks, really loud gurgling in stomach a few hours after eating, off my food, nausea, bloating, intermittent constipation mixed with diahorrea, and random anal leaking. I've not noticed blood in stool and have examined it. But occasionally when I wipe there is blood on tissue think this is just because it's sore.I have a colonoscopy in a few days which I am anxious about too. Ive convinced myself its cancer. Panicking that I'm on way out. I'm 46 my uncle had bowel cancer at 55. Weird thing is I still have energy, I run most days. Just feel like I need some optimism as I'm losing mind with worry.

Hello Fazzer! You are definitely doing the right thing by scheduling yourself for a colonoscopy. Believe me…That is the first step you need to take to find out what is going on.

Hi fazzer, Yes you are doing the right thing. A colonoscopy is the way to see what is going on in your colon. BC is no longer a death sentence, the earlier it is caught the better. There are many things your symptoms could be and your test will see that. Take all the prep, a clear view of your colon is what they need. Good luck and don’t worry, easier said than done.

Hi fazzer75,

You are all over this.🧡👍 I hate to hear you are having to deal with it, but taking action early and getting the colonoscopy is a huge step in getting you answers. I like you are able to keep some normal activities for you like running. That helps you physically and mentally.

Good advice from others posting as well. There can be all kinds of reasons you are having these symptoms. Getting it checked out is the big step and you are doing just that.

We wish you all the best. Do the prep right👍👍😁. I hope you get some good answers for your situation.

Prep notes from me ... I get a colonoscopy every year. Just had one this week. It is what it is and know it's necessary and a good thing to be doing. I will move the time line up an hour or more on everything. This way you can get some sleep the night before easier after dealing with the wave of 'activity'. Also, the day of the procedure you won't be anxiously trying to locate a bathroom. Things will be more 'calm' as you head out to get it done.

Keep us informed as to how it turns out. Lots are in the same boat and have the same questions.

Thank you,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.

Thanks so much for your kind words and support. It means a lot. Good news is I have had my colonoscopy and they've removed 3 polyps and sent for testing, but they're optimistic they're probably nothing but even if they were they're gone. I also have diverticulitis which I'll need to manage but I am generally relieved. Thanks again for your support.

this could be a thing of nothing maybe a polyp and don't think about it till colonscopy is done. Write down all symptoms etc that you have at have it with you for colonoscopy also explain how worried you are. Best of luck with it x

hello i am new hear, I'm glad to hear you are ok. Was the diverculitis the reason of your symtomps? I have nearly the same symtomps, every day loose stool not watery, then the gas /flatuence, then nausea loose of appetite but no pain just discomfort like feeling sick. I am really scared, i am trying to do a colonoacopy but the gp says your tests are ok and i keep pushing them ...

Hi Chrisb86.

In all honesty, they've not got to the cause of it. I'm awaiting the result of my biopsy but I expect they'll keep investigating. . The Diverticulitis is very common apparently, so it's probably that pal. Definitely push for a colonoscopy it's the only way to be certain and felt such a relief not sure how old you or which country but if you have any family history, not just immediate family, that seemed to trigger a referal. Good luck.

Thankyou for the answear. I am in uk and 39 years old. So hard to do a colonoacopy here...every blood and stool test was ok so the gp don't know the reason. They referred me for a sigmoidoscopy that is not the same...and it will take months. I really don't know how long can i resist to wait...i am not in a good mood anymore, i can't stop thinking about it...

Good luck with your biopsy! Take care.

Any news help appreciated

sorry one more thing, did you have any kind of pain or just discomfort?

no pain, just discomfort. I suspect it is stress related as since been told it's nothing sinister. It's easy for me to say but the percentages are very much on your side,
