I’m passing these clots and have for a while now, I’ve had blood in my stool for many years but maintained a healthy diet and active lifestyle. I’ve been trying to get help from Drs. But it seems I’m getting the run around, my primary dr said because my red cell count dropped as fast as it has I needed a colonoscopy asap, which they scheduled for a month and a half away, is that normal?

Also I have passed what can only be described as looking like raw chicken meat, I apologize for being graphic, I’m extremely weak, really Gassy, and had what can only be described as slight strokes, I’m a 37 year old male, I’ve gotten bacterial infections in the last few weeks, they’ve already ran 3 different types of antibiotics which seem to help some symptoms but nothing from my colon.

Hi Ticktick336,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I'm sorry to hear of all these things you are dealing with. You have blood in your stool and "if it’s light don’t worry about it" is NOT good advice.

I am proud you are seeking medical advice and getting things checked out. Anytime there is blood involved, you need good answers as to the cause. Blood in the stool can be caused by many different things, so it's good to see you are seeking answers.

And yes, that is normal to schedule a colonoscopy. I think you PCP is right on in ordering the colonoscopy. That will go along way in giving you answers as to the bleeding cause. Is there any way you can contact your PCP to get the appointment moved up? The directive was "asap" and a month seems like they could do better. It's a tough thing to do as a patient. Are there other options or locations to go schedule? I know with the insurance you try to stay in-network. I would contact your PCP to see it can be moved up.

Your PCP and your Gastroenterologist are in two separate areas. I hope your PCP can help with this. Also, make sure your Gastroenterologist contacts you in case another appointment gets cancelled and you can take that time slot.

We wish you all the best. Please let us know how it turns out and if you were able to get a colonoscopy sooner.

Regards,
