So terrified over colon cancer

hello. I am a 19 year old female. occasionally throughout my life, i have a hard time going to the bathroom. not much pain, but it always gets resolved. I recently had a D&C procedure in October, and after anesthesia I was constipated for 5 days. I took Miralax and had loose stool for a couple weeks. Booked a GI appointment and was basically cleared, but still was given a stool test to test for any infections. This year i’ve noticed the presence of yellow mucus in my stool but there were no other shape changes. My stool got more consistent and I was starting to feel better, so I put off the test. Well, last week, I started feeling nauseous out of nowhere. I panicked in fear of another possibly pregnancy, and because of my anxiety my stool has suffered since. The other day, there was blood in my stool. I have no appetite, feeling tired and hopeless, and overall terrified of colon cancer. Could I get some reassurance? Now there is only blood when I wipe. I am also “menstruating” and I say that lightly because since my surgery I haven’t had a proper menstruation cycle. So I’m technically bleeding from both right now. On my stool it was light red yet when I wipe it’s bright red almost pink. Stool is soft/mushy, and I do strain even when it’s not hard stool. I haven’t eaten a proper meal in a week so I can’t tell if i’m losing weight from anxiety and not eating or aggressive cancer.

Hi sweetheart get back to the doctor and ask for a referral. I suffer also from terrible anxiety and am in the process of being tested for Anal cancer. It’s awful, terrifying, you just go and get tested.

I would advise scheduling an appointment with your healthcare provider. There are many tests available, including FIT, FOBT, Barium Enema, Sigmoidoscopy, Virtual and Traditional Colonoscopy. For additional information on screening, symptoms and prevention, visit: GlobalCCA.org
