I’m 19 and I’m worried
I suggest you to see a doctor asap and don't just wait. He will probably ask you to do colonoscopy. Or just directly call Gastroenterologist and schedule one. Its always better to be sure. I am scheduled to do colonoscopy this Jan 28. I had a lot of blood after my stool with some clots 3 week ago. No pain. My doctor said its probably hemorrhoids. After high fiber diet and workout the bleeding stopped. But I am loosing weight 4 pounds in like a week. Dont know if its the diet change and workout or else. If you are having constipation try prune juice with a lot of water. Don't stress your body my forcing in restroom.
Is it like a dark red ? Or bright red ?
Cancer at 19-20 with no family history?
Get checked ofc if you are worried but I can tell you that the chance of having it is close to 0.
Sounds like IBS to me, stop eating spicy and don't push too hard or else you will get piles and they will bleed, keep the stool soft by eating fiber and being well hydrated.
Blood is easy to spot when visible, it's usually bright red or dark to the point of being black, and can even turn stool black like tar or maroon or maybe appear in streakes.
It will also most likely turn the toilet water into bright red and will appear on toilet paper when you wipe yourself.
Hello Dan777x ,Thank you for posting. Any time there's an abnormality with your bowel movement, be that blood, or pain, or a change in "what's normal" for you, we do suggest going to a doctor to get that checked out.
Depending on where you live and insurance, you may need to see a primary care doctor first (which is really important to see on a yearly basis, anyway). Then you would be referred to a gastroenterologist.
There are so many possibilities of what could be causing the blood and pain, so try not to let your anxiety get to you. Many times we get checked out and it turns out to be a condition that can be treated with diet change, more liquids, prescription and or over the counter medication.
Keep in mind that if you are in extreme pain, and you'll need to decide what that is for you, since we all handle pain differently, that you should get checked out at an emergency room. Same goes for if you start losing a lot of blood, but it doesn't sound like you are experiencing a lot of blood loss.
When in doubt, see a doctor, and even better, a specialist.
Please keep us updated, we're here for you.
