Hi! I'm a 23 years old woman who started seeing mucus with thin stool, this lasted for sometime then stopped. Then morning diarrhea for months, I started feeling tired and had to go see my doctor. I was treated for IBS. But I think I have colon cancer because there might be blood in my stool. I'm worried, do I have colon cancer?
Please help!

Hi DOMH1, thank you for sharing and I'm sorry you are going through this. First thing, take a deep breath. Anxiety is especially tough on our GI system and I know it is easier for me to tell you to relax, than it is to actually relax.... but it is important to try to stay calm.
Was the doctor that you saw your primary care or did you see a specialist? Did they give you any information or resources for dealing with your irritable bowel syndrome? There's a group on here specifically for IBS, that might be worth visiting: healthunlocked.com/theibsne...
There are tests that the doctors can order such as a stool test, could be referred to as a FIT or FOBT test where they are looking for blood in the stool (not always visible to see). Or sDNA test where they are actually looking for abnormalities in the dna that sloughs off in your stool.
Are you experiencing any pain?
If you search other posts in our group you will see LOTS of photos of stools, with varying amounts of blood. You'll also see my response that the only way to determine what the cause of blood in your stool, is to see a specialist.
Please keep us updated and try to distract yourself. But make an appointment today!
