Hi, I'm a 46 year old wife and mom of 5. I was dx stage IV metastatic rectal cancer 3 years ago. Originally, I was given 2 years but, by the grace of God, I'm still here and am having more good days than bad days. I'm glad to be welcomed and to be part of this online community 💙

Still fighting the fight
Jennifer, you are not alone when it comes to having bowel cancer. I too was dx with intestinal cancer and I presently have 15 cm of my large intestine remaining. My problem was digestion! Everything I ate would instantly pass through my system but under a doctor's advice I was told to take Metamucil at half dosage, wow what a difference. Everything is not perfect but I have now had 15 years under my belt living life.
Not only did I have intestinal cancer but also prostate cancer, and skin cancer three times. Cancer sure has been a major party of my life!
7 weeks ago, still another medical problem was handed me, not of the cancer type. I had a dye test and the results showed a blockage, could not receive a stent nor could I have bypass surgery as it would be life threatening. My cardiologist told me that I now have a chronic illness and then he said 5 words to me and they still resonate with me on a daily basis; "Get on with your life."
We are all dealt a hand of cards when we are born, some mat contain a Royal Flush, others a ace high, no matter what we are dealt we must get on with living. Do the best you can with the situation we find ourselves in as there are others who have it more difficult. Live your life to the fullest!
