I’m new to this group chat, and found the information helpful. I see many people started increasing Vitamin D during the “wait and see” period. Is there a certain brand for vitamin C that’s better than others? Thank you!

Newly Diagnosed CLL

Read the following Mayo information before you decide the amount and when to take Vitamin D3 other than what you get in food and from the sun.

I speak from experience in trying to find the source of high blood calcium--too much vitamin D can raise blood calcium. I am not certain that is what has caused my situation, however, it wasn't helping my situation to stay on it. My endocrinologist took me off both calcium and D3 supplements for a time. I am now only on the smallest dose of D3.
I will tell my story when I get more information regarding this issue.
The above article covers contraindications regarding medications you may need to be on and any vitamin D3.

Hi Sookie2000,
You may want to read this discussion from earlier this month on supplements and how to get the correct amount: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...
And BTW- NatureMade Vitamin D3 and other products are USP tested and certified, very few other sellers have this criteria.

Hey Len, thanks for that info. Nature Made is what I take and now I'm wondering. I take their Multi for women over 50( which has no iron since the need for us post menopausal women is no longer an issue)..but given that anemia is often an issue for us...would it be better to switch back to the regular women's formula, which contains some iron?Debbie
As I suggested, test, test, test. Ask the hematologist to test every quarter or every other quarter. The right amount of iron, D3, B12, calcium, magnesium are not something you can guess at without data.
D3 will vary with your exposure to sunlight, so summer needs less and winter more. The other comments below talk about Vit K2 and Zinc, which I have never had tested, BUT it did take lots of work (over 12 months and one bag of iron infused) to get my iron, Ferritin and D3 in the right ranges. After 3 years of 5,000IU D3 daily I finally went over 100 and had to back down while I was taking photo therapy/ light box treatments.

Add Vit K2 and Mg, Zinc to your supplements. D3 can only be increased if you have enough K2 and Mg. Otherwise, it does not transfer to bones and muscle tissue and might cause kidney stones.
Yeah, you add Vitamin K when taking higher doses of D to avoid the higher levels of blood calcium, etc. (most Vitamin D supplements already have K added to them).
