Dear all, has anyone been taking venetoclax and gotten a kind of persistent expectoration and sometimes a cough, especially at night? I still haven't figured out if it's related to the venetoclax or the cortisone I'm taking because of my kidneys. Thank you and kind regards.

persistent expectoration + venetoclax
I had a persistant expectoration from runny sinus and left sided sinus area headache during a different treatment, alemtuzumab. I've also had venetoclax & it didn't happen with that. Cough *is* a reported side effect of the latter.
Do you think this is coming up from your lungs, or down from your sinuses? Regardless, mention it to the doc. I was convinced I had a sinus infection, but I didn't.
I stopped taking V in 2021 after taking it for 2 years and to this day still I have not stopped having sinus problems and a continual runny nose every day.

I’m having the same issue on venetoclax along with a runny sinus. I ended up with pneumonia twice earlier in the year & have since been having immunoglobulin infusions on a monthly basis. It hasn’t helped my runny sinus, cough or expectorant but I feel better for it & should stop things progressing to pneumonia again
Ask your pharmacist for drug advice. My hubby has CLL and is always filling up with fluid resulting in a cough, continual runny noise and very productive evacuation from his longs....currently now under investigation to find out why!
Could have many reasons. Perhaps they could take a swab of the sputum and check for bacteria and viruses. Allergies could play a role. Food or environmental. And then of course the pills.
I am 18 months into a 2 year fixed duration course of Venetoclax and Rituximab (first six months). In January to May of this year I seemed to have a constant cold which turned into a cough. It has been better over the summer months but I do have this persistent irritating cough. My consultant thinks that it is due to the venetoclax but is sending me for a CT scan to check that my lungs are OK as I have Sarcoidosis as well.
Yes. I am about a year on Venetoclax and having colds often, coughing all the time and having persistent expectoration. Several infections treated with antibiotics. Pressure around the chest. It seem to be better in warmer, dryer climate. I never thought it could be the medication but now I wonder. I get immunoglobulin but does not seem to make a difference.
I’ve been in V for almost two years now and although it’s been brilliant and without side effects, I do suffer from a cough that comes and goes as well as a runny nose sometimes. I’ll take it! How long you been on V?
First I had obinituzumab infusions since march and now I’m on venetoclax for four months. I’m also on prednisone. All the best
