Core biopsy done which allows for more tissue to be sampled compared to just aspiration. They took 4 specimens from the largest brightest node in my neck today to check for Richters. If it comes back inconclusive, I will insist on an excisional biopsy, but from what I was told today, that would be more risky based on location of node they would need to excise.
Also, saw my local on oncologist this week who is checking into trials at Rutgers Cancer Institute an hour from my home, so I can see ALL the options available to me, which is closer to home and more logistically feasible given my support situation.
Feeling good! Biopsy was painless. Radiologist was excellent. Hard to believe I am being tested for Richters. Maybe it’s the steroids, but I feel like me only looking back like a chipmunk.

Glad to hear about core needle vs needle aspiration. I have been seeing Dr Andrew Evens (very knowledgeable in CLL/SLL) for 5 years at Rutgers CINJ, but there is now a true CLL specialist there - Joanna Rhodes. You may want to try to meet with her if possible.
