Getting my Calquence prescription in ice storm

Not sure what to do about this… I have 4 days of Calquence left. Oregon is dealing with some bad weather and my doctor’s office is having trouble with both phone and online services. The pharmacy I use is online and I refill my medication through texts. It was supposed be delivered today but I called and found out they didn’t get the message to renew so the earliest it will be delivered is on the 18th (3 days) assuming weather doesn’t prohibit delivery). That’s cutting it really close. I’m going to keep trying to get through to my hematologist but wondering if I should cut back to 1 pill a day? Ugh!

This has happened to me and I did cut back to one pill a day. And I was without any for two days and I had no negetive effects….but very frayed nerves! Hang in there!

Thank you so much. That’s good to know. The process has been so seamless in the past. Now know to never get down that low.

Looks like it is perhaps a good idea to save a pill here and there for emergency situations like this? Like skipping a pill from time to time.

I had to go off Calquence for 7 days for a surgery. I was fine. Hope this helps your nerves and you get your medication soon! 🦋

as LeoPa commented, if you have been on Calquence for >1 year it would likely be safe to skip a day or two if necessary.

Alternately, you could take 1 a day for 1-2 days thereby getting an extra two days of reduced dose ( but some) Calquence every day.

also recommended to go off Calquence 4 days before colonoscopy and a couple days after, my oncologist said it shouldn't affect my numbers whatsoever. What a relief to know!

I am in Oregon, too, and the weather is suppose to reach 50 degrees on Wednesday and melt all this. But, meanwhile, even the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is closed today (Tuesday.)

Right, haven’t been able to get through to them. Left a message with their answering service. I think the warming temps are going to get things back on track tomorrow so hopefully my medicine will get delivered without any gaps.
