Finished Obinutuzumab treatment!

Feeling great, I finished Obinutuzumab treatments today. I gained 10 pounds during the process. Hoping that is short lived. I will continue with daily Venetoclax until March.

A couple of bumps in the road in the beginning, but overall a positive experience.

Just seen your response to Wendy. I thought you were supposed to lose weight not put it on with O.

I lost 2Kg on first infusion of O. Over 500 billion (x10^9 not trillion) lymph cells died in 5 days.

All dieting has gone to the wall, it was only supposed to be relaxed for first 8-9 weeks and at middle of cycle 8 I'm now +8kg from that low post first IV weight.

Skyshark -

500 trillion? I'd like to see the arithmetic - could be useful in MRD calculations. You can message me, if you like.

Dang, it's billions x10^9.

Oh Wendy 328, I didn't know that O causes increases in weight. I need to check what I'm eating as I can put it on just by looking at something nice. Glad you're feeling good.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. Not pleased about it at all.......

well done, I’m a few weeks ahead of you. It’s a good milestone to reach, another step towards a brighter future. I too put on a bit of weight, (although consultants don’t think it is a side effect, I know I’m not the only one) I think it was because my body was so poorly before starting treatment it was struggling to keep nutrients in and now it’s working a lot better. With a little bit of added effort I’ve managed to maintain back to my original weight that I’m happier with now just on the v. To be honest I’m just happy to be healthier right now and know it will all re balance in time.

Hi. Thats great news and well done you. 18 months after completing the year of O & V I am feeling great and loving life. Thanks to these amazing drugs the future is so much brighter for us. I too put on about 10 lbs during treatment but it came off easily once I had completed the course and had the energy to start hiking and biking again. Lots of luck with the rest of the venetoclax. Glad to hear it easily came off. I go back to the Dr in 8 weeks hoping to have shed some by then.

I've gained weight, too. But I tend to blame changes in my own eating behavior, plus additional fatigue while on a triple treatment, which not everybody experiences, I think.

I'm counting calories on my FitBit (along with ounces of water and steps, etc.)

In any case, congratulations! I rang the bell when I finish Obin, but still had months of pills to go. I feel some energy returning, and hope you do, too!

Yeah, I rang the bell after the last dose of Obin and felt a bit of fraud as I knew I was only 5/12 done.

It’s still a big deal!! Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS. I at first lost 15 lbs after the first few infusions but it all came back and I gained a few extra. I finished my last O infusion 3 months ago and despite a better healthier diet and increase in excercise, I still have not shed the extra weight.

UGH.

Any one have similar weight gain issues and if so, what did you do about it?

i have a friend who just started V&O treatment and he saw a drop in Red blood cell count. I did not see that listed as a side effect on the Obinutuzumab site I researched. Did anyone else experience that when on O? (PS I am a CLL patient as well having gone through FCR 8 years ago and doing well so far).

Yes, my RBC did drop. I believe that’s why everything is closely monitored. Therefore never reaching a dangerous level.
