Does anyone know whether it's advisable to get vaccinated when you're ill with something else?
For the last week I've been laid out with either a cold or allergies (leaning toward the latter based on symptoms) and I'm scheduled to get a combo covid/flu vax tomorrow.
I really want to get that done ASAP but I'm exhausted from whatever is going on already.
I'm on Calquence so my immune system is challenged in terms of making antobodies.
Is it okay to get vaccinated while my body is fighting something else or should I wait until I'm feeling better?

This advice is purely that from a fellow CLL’er who is in the same position. I’m just getting over a virus that has affected me for early 3 weeks. I’ve just finished a course of steroids. I’m due a Covid, flu and Shingrix vaccination and have delayed the flu and Shingrix for another 3 weeks to allow my immune system to recover. My surgery advised me to do this. I’m actually leaving the Covid vaccination for longer.
You really need the advice of your medical team but in your position, I’d be wary about having the vaccinations whilst feeling under par and on treatment.
OH walked up to surgery for flu jab and was refused as he looked sweaty and had a slightly raised temperature. We both had a non-Covid infection about 3 weeks before. He is otherwise healthy. Jab postponed for 2 weeks.
my husband doesn’t have CLL. He had a bug for a week and felt ill. The nurse gave him the Covid jab anyway, even though he said he felt poorly. He really became poorly after that for another week. Covid vaccine has never affected him before. I think if it is doing that to a healthy person who has a bug, far worse for us CLLers.
I agree with all the comments here. Despite the threat of covid it seems unwise to get jabbed while ill. I postponed my appointment and will go when feeling better!
I would recover first to give my body a fighting chance to even make antibodies. Too many battles at one, how could you win??? Take necessary precautions of cause but wait🤔
