Change in US coverage laws may benefit those getting copay or discount assistance from drug makers and nonprofits.

“Copay accumulators,” where the value of any financial assistance you receive does not count towards your out-of-pocket max, were just ruled invalid by US Federal courts.

Fortunately my insurance companies have always counted my grant copay against my deductible which means that after January, I am always in catastrophic coverage.

Yes, the insurance companies have no way of knowing, or care, that your deductible comes from your own bank account, a rich relative paying it, or a grant/copay assistance from a foundation.
