Financial assistance for drugs

I am wondering if anyone in Ontario Canada has applied to the company that manufactures Zanubrutinib for financial assistance in covering the cost. Because the Ontario drug plan for seniors will not cover it our hematology team has submitted our name to the manufacturer. I am wondering how intrusive a process this might be. If anyone has dealt with a drug company for assistance I would be very happy to hear of their experience. Many thanks,

I am in the US, when a hematologist prescribed Acalabrutinib for me, I called the drug manufacturer, and they sent me my Rx free. Try calling them.

Hello Seaperson. I am an Ontario resident and my doctor prescribed Zanubrutinib off label. The drug maker (Beigene) initially provided the drug free of charge because OHIP, Ontario's arm of our national health insurance, has not yet approved coverage of the drug. My private insurance does cover the drug and when they approved the coverage BeiGene collected from them. I think BeiGene would have provided the drug free if my insurance had not stepped in. Always worthwhile to contact the drug maker. Hope that helps.

Hello again, Seaperson. I should have added that my doctor initiated the initial contact with BeiGene an d supplied information they requested to determine their support decision.

Thank you for the info. My cancer treatment centre is contacting BeiGene on our behalf. I do have some private coverage but it is not very good. Hopefully this will all work out.
