In Scotland at the moment, due to a severe reaction to my 5th and 6th Phizer jabs, my Haematologist has told me to press for an alternative. I have called the Scottish Vaccine centre twice but they will not budge on the matter..
All they can say that an alternative to Phizer is due some time in the future, but I will have to take what's offered.
My understanding was that they have to provide an alternative, if there is good reason for you not to take Phizer. I would have thought my Haematologists recommendation was reason enough.
Am I right in saying that in England there is no problem with an alternative, under those circumstances.
Any thoughts or personal experience by anyone would be appreciated. Regards Ron

I hust got the Moderna Covid Injection in the U.S. Ask if it is in fact available in S otland - maybe not. What about England? If they have it can you get it there? Best wishes, Ms Chief
“The following coronavirus vaccines are routinely used in Scotland:
Comirnaty [Pfizer] Omicron XBB.1.5 30 micrograms/dose dispersion for injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine 12+ years
Comirnaty [Pfizer] Omicron XBB.1.5 10 micrograms/dose dispersion for injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine 5-11 years
Comirnaty [Pfizer] Omicron XBB.1.5 3 micrograms/dose concentrate for dispersion for injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine 6 months – 4 years
Spikevax [Moderna] XBB.1.5 0.1 mg/mL dispersion for injection (MDV) 18+ years
VidPrevtyn Beta [Sanofi] solution and emulsion for emulsion for injection 18+ years”
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are both mRNA vaccines based on the Omicron XBB 1.5 strain, the Sanofi is based on the B.1.351 strain and is produced by recombinant DNA technology with an adjuvant.
I suspect that the Novovax vaccine is the one the Scottish Vaccine Centre told you might be available in the future.
Perhaps your haematologist might be able to advise you further.
I don't know if my reply will help at all, but I was very sick and vomiting after both Pfizer jabs ( vaccine 5 and vaccine 6). When it came to the 7th hab, I contacted tha pharmacy and was told that the next one was Moderna. I was relieved and went to have it. Unfortunately, I had the same reaction. I have come to the conclusion that its because its a bivalent vaccine but I could be wrong.Wishing you the best
Thanks Jammin, the reason for the change was the very bad reaction I had to my 5th and 6th Phizer. Yes she would write a letter to that effect, I am arranging that now, I hope it makes a difference'
I had the Pfizer vaccine on Thursday...usually have 3 days of fever & fatigue...but this time just a slight fever and a headache for a day and a sore arm for 3 days.. a much better reaction.
For comparison....I recently had the new Moderna vax and after 9 hours suffered what was essentially a 21 hour flu--aching, headache, temperature disregulation, even vomited! It was really something, then gone. Doctors always tell me that such occurences after a vax mean I was already sick with something. I don't buy that.
I agree. We are stimulating our immune system, and that involves our gut, and other proteins may also be made, and may also induce headaches. Many of the symptoms of "illness" when we are exposed to pathogens may relate to "immune system kicking into high drive" in addition to any foreign molecule of a pathogen causing various upsets/irritations that we interpret as "something making me ill."
