Visit to Haematology Dept.

This morning I had a appointment to see the consultant haematologist at Scarborough Hospital, the first I have seen for about 3 years, the was because my total white blood count & Lymphocyte count had shot up from my April blood test, she examined me and took more blood, the results were a lot better from this morning compared to April, still high but better. The Consultant was very happy and said carry on as normal.

Hi Ellim,

-

Your blood counts can vary up or down on a specific test, so most doctors watch the long term trends.

One of our USA lab test experts - Dr. Susan LeClair has explained that the white cells will cling to the walls of our arteries. A sudden exertion like climbing stairs or rushing to an appointment can shake those cells loose to enter the blood stream for about one hour. That will make the test results much higher temporarily.

And there are no specific levels of ALC / Lymph# or LymphABS that trigger treatment.

Did you see Dr Munro? If so she's very though and does the best she can. I really get on well with her.

She is a very nice lady, I should have gone on the 12 July , but they had a cancellation, my blood results from yesterday are much better than April's.
