Latest bloodwork

My past 3 cbc's have shown a rise in specific areas that seem to indicate that I'm no longer in remission. I'm hoping I can attach results as I have questions about some elements. I have been on a low dose of (140mg) for the past 5 years and was previously treated with FCR in 2013. I will see my oncologist July 6th to discuss what's next. I am leaving for a 5 week camping roadtrip in my VW van on July 7th and really hoping I will not have to cancel. I have never been tested for specific markers as my oncologists have not felt it necessary. The latest blood work shows rises in basophils, eosinophils and also absolute blasts the latter never showing up in previous tests. Of course my lymphocyte numbers have also risen. If anyone has input on what this looks like I would appreciate it. Looks like I'm not savvy enough for loading the photos of tests so here are some numbers from last test. Absolute blasts 169, absolute lymphocytes 13,520, lymphocyte percent 73, RDW SD 16.9 and WBC 16.9. Never had absolute blasts show up before. Hope that helps. Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,

The blood count triggers for starting treatment are your lymphocyte count doubling in under 6 months ideally after the absolute count climbs above 30,000 (your count is under half that at 13,520), your haemoglobin dropping below 10 or your platelet count trending down under 100.

It would help if you could attach your last few blood test reports, so we can see any trends. You can only add one image per post or reply. Probably the easiest way to do that is to photograph your results after hiding any identifying information, then attaching the image by selecting the photo icon on the bottom right of your reply. The site prefers images to be under 2 megabytes in size. Using your phone camera is probably the easiest way to do this. There are various ways of reducing your image size, depending on your phone, but one quick way is to pin your results on a pinboard, then zoom in on your results from a distance. If this sounds too complicated, just share your last few haemoglobin, platelet and lymphocyte counts, plus the blast count results in full, including the range and any comments. Sometimes these can appear in reports and are of no consequence if they are low. Your rising other white blood cell counts could indicate an infection or allergy.

You've also posted unlocked (your post can be found via an internet search), so you might want to change you post so it is only visible to our community as explained in this post.

Thanks for replying and for the helpful suggestions. My wbc though much lower than when I started chemo has doubled in the last month. Don't think I'm fighting an infection so wondering if my low dose of Ibrutinib has run its course.

Good idea to photograph your results on your laptop, though you can also capture the screen, window or section of your display as an alternative.

You've duplicated your CBC results, so I've deleted your second reply, given both images were readable. What do you think the odds are of having the exact same readings (169) for your eosinophils, basophils and blasts? I'm highly suspicious of an error creating the report! Even more strangely, your WBC is 16.9 and your RDW% is 16.9. They missed with the platelets at 165 though :( Irrespective, your monocyte, eosinophil and basophil counts are all within their respective reference ranges, so rather unlikely to be of concern.

Are you able to arrange another blood test between now and when you see your oncologist, or just having a blood test just prior to seeing them? That will give you more information and put your mind at rest before you set off on your road trip.

I thought those numbers were odd too. The basophils and eosinophils both increased quite a bit within a month. I will have 1 more blood draw prior to seeing my oncologist and leaving on trip.
