valtrex and Zanubrutinib

I started 500 mg valtrex 4 days ago and Zanubrutinib will be delivered today. I have had chronic gastritis for 20 years and have taken 30 mg Prevacid since. It is not caused by h pylori and I had endoscopy last fall which showed mild redness and hietal hernia. My stomach is very sensitive. I don’t drink alcohol and my coffee is acid reduced. The 500 mg valtrex has set my stomach on fire! I have sent a message to my doctor asking whether to hold the valtrex while I get started on Zanubrutinib. Has anyone had a similar experience and if so what did you do? I have doubled my Prevacid for now and have appointments with oncology PA in 2 weeks and my gastroenterologist 6-1.

Valtrex makes me very nauseous, I have to take it with food. I would eat first, then take the pill. I take 1 gram tablets.

I have been taking it after my evening meal but my stomach just burns. Have a call in to gastro doctor to see if I can increase Prevacid. Also oncologist said to hold valtrex for a week

I wonder if you can take acyclovir *capsule*, if that might cause less upset. Capsules are lighter than tablets, and when they bust open the contents generally spread faster/get diluted quicker, than with a tablet. It's usually not clinically significant, the difference between tablet versus capsule dissolving, but perhaps you are one that a capsule dosage form causes fewer GI problems.

That is a good thought. I will check that out.
